In the early hours of October 7th, 2025, Gladys Carter passed away at the age of 87. Gladys passed surrounded by family in her home where she lived with her late husband Mel Carter, her son Lee Carter, and her daughter's family. Gladys Carter, formerly Gladys Pearson, was born in Spokane Washington where she would meet her Husband Alden Melroy (Mel) Carter. They got married in Spokane on June 6th, 1960 and shortly welcomed a son by the name of Alden Lee Carter on May 23rd, 1962. 3 years later in 1965 they moved to Bountiful Utah and built the very home in which Gladys resided in until her passing. It's then in 1971that they had another son by the name of Shawn Lee Carter on June 24th, unfortunately Shawn would pass away on the 26th of June. Despite their heartbreak, Gladys and Mel would go on to have their last child in 1975. On January 24th they had their daughter Kimberlee Dawn Carter. In 2002 Gladys would welcome another son by the way of marriage after her daughter Kimberlee married Michael Shirley. Then in 2004 and 2005 respectively Gladys became a grandmother to Haylee and Wyatt Shirley, a title which she cherished greatly. Unfortunately, after 59 years of marriage, Gladys' husband Mel would pass away on April 11th of 2019. Despite the grief she continued to live with her two grandchildren, her daughter, her son-in-law, and her son. Then on June 3rd of 2023 her daughter Kimberlee unexpectedly passed. Heartbroken but determined Gladys continued on and lived life to the fullest as her family cared for her. Her stubbornness and determination now something they cherish.
Gladys is survived by her son Alden Lee Carter, her son-in-law Michael Shirley, her granddaughter Haylee Shirley, and her grandson Wyatt Shirley.
