Gladys Marie (Douglas) Hardon was born in Whiteville, Tennessee to Ephan and Lucy Douglas on July 9, 1946. On September 18,1971, Gladys was united in holy matrimony to Benjamin Hardon in Bolivar, Tennessee. Their union was one of devotion, love and respect. The family relocated to Marion, Ohio in 1976. Gladys retired from Blackhawk Plastics after over 40 years of employment.
Gladys was a faithful member of the Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church for over 25 years. She served tirelessly on the Usher Board, she was part of the Culinary Team, and a member of the Mother’s Board. She also served the community by being a member of the Community Usher Board and the Charmer’s Lady’s Club.
Our Heavenly Father called Gladys Marie (Douglas) Hardon, age78, home on Saturday, May 10, 2025. While her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Gladys was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy (Green) Douglas, her father Ephan Douglas, her husband, Benjamin Hardon, her son, Marvel Douglas, her daughters, Jamie Wylie – Christie, Alma Lampkin, three grandchildren Haley, John, and Mary. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters Lorene Douglas, Lizzie Mae Jones and three brothers, Pharisee Douglas, Willie James Douglas, and Ephan Douglas Jr. She leaves to celebrate her memories, her sisters, Opal Greene, Lou Berta Smith, Janette Baker, Ann Douglas, Brodie Douglas, her brother, Danny Douglas, her sons Michael Hardon and Brian Hardon, six Grandchildren Treva, Jovan, Sate, Sade, Juathesha, Quiana, and Mikayla. She also leaves her special friend throughout her journey, Dorothy Henson. She was also blessed with a multitude of great-grandchildren, great- great-grandchildren, and a host of family, and friends.
