Gladys Mildred Hunter

Gladys Mildred Hunter died peacefully in her sleep on March 19, 2023, at 94 years old. Gladys was born on June 13, 1928, in Drexel Hill, PA; her parents were Dr. James Hall Smith and Mildred (Morlock) Smith. Later her family moved to Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Gladys graduated from Boston University: Sargent College, in 1950, and began teaching physical education at Colby Junior College. She moved to California and married Louis Kent Hunter. Gladys enjoyed teaching Physical Education for the Los Alto School District, at the Junior High level until she retired in 1990. She loved golf, tennis, basketball, gardening, and cooking. She lived her life by her favorite mantra: Peace, Harmony, Love, and Laughter. Her happy place was being by the ocean, having a picnic lunch with her friends, and hearing the waves and seagulls. Her other happy place was watching women's basketball with her buddies. Among her favorite songs are "I Left my Heart in San Francisco" (Tony Bennet), and "Respect" (Aretha Franklin). Surviving family members are her son Jeffrey Hunter and grandchildren: Brittany, Michelle, Morgan, and her daughter-in-law Karen Hunter and grandchildren: Cole and Drew. Her son Richard Hunter preceded her.
