Frederick D. Mapp

Frederick D. Mapp born in New Haven, CT passed away peacefully from an 8 year battle with Parkinson's disease on Wednesday January 28th 2026 in Scottsdale, AZ at the age of 82 with his beloved wife Sandie by his side at the Hospice center.

Fred is predeceased by his parents, Arlene and Charles Fritzgerald Mapp, oldest brother Edward Mapp and his older sister Olga Mapp-Stansbury.

He is survived by his beloved wife Sandie, residing in Scottsdale and older brother Robert Mapp (New Haven, Ct.) as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins residing on the East and West Coast.

Fred had more than 55 years of experience in the Information Technology profession. He held key executive positions at IBM, InfoSpan Corp. American Express, Honeywell and AMD where he was worldwide CIO. He was named CEO/President of the World Congress on Information Technology in 2006.

Fred frequently presented at IT Conferences during his extensive career and while running his own company Quality Service Solutions. He has been featured in CIO, Fortune, Black EOE Journal, Diversity Careers, Information Week, Optimize and other publications.

Fred was awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award from HMG Strategy, a global IT Leadership Institute held at the Phoenix Executive Leadership Summit in October 2023.

Fred had a passion for football, cars, travel, singing Karaoke and entertaining with his wife Sandie who he met in 1979 and married in 1985. He was an active member of the Catholic Church and was elected Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus twice, where under his leadership they had the largest amount of new applicants. He also started the Cars for Charity with the Knights of Columbus, where funds where raised for their Catholic parish pre-school for 5 consecutive years.

Fred and Sandie are known for their philanthropic generosity to several charities.

Fred was Junior and Senior Class President,Senior Graduating Class Valedictorian and Scholarship recipient of his graduating class of 1961 at Eli Whitney and credits the teachers there for recognizing his talents in electrical engineering.

A visitation for Fred will be held at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary on Tuesday, February 10th from 3:00 - 7:00PM. There will be a Funeral Mass at Our lady of Joy Catholic Church with a burial to follow at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery.
