Gladys Onita “Nita” Jackson, 89, of Meridian, passed away the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at R. P. White Nursing Facility.
Nita was born to William Henry and Johnnie Mae (Wilkerson) Ezell on May 23, 1935, at their home in Meridian. She was a beloved mother to her two children, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a wonderful friend to many. She loved her family fiercely and devotedly, but, most of all, she loved the Lord. Her family brought immeasurable joy to her life. She enjoyed spending her time with her loved ones, being outdoors, and her flowers the most. She will be missed dearly by all who got the opportunity to know her.
Nita is survived by her daughter, Linda Fisher and her husband, Donald; her sister, Shirley Duffy; her grandchildren, Kevin Fisher (Jessica) and Michelle Bynum (Brad); along with her great grandchildren, Kayla Dearing (Brady), David Dearman (Jordan), and Sawyer Fisher; and her great-great granddaughter, Ansleigh Dearing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Johnnie Mae Ezell; her husband, Grady Jackson; her son, Shields Jackson; sisters, Linda Lou Dikes, Georgie McClendon, Doris Purdy, Helen Jeffries, Mary Rockwood, Hazel Davis; and her great grandson, Carter Fisher.
Visitation for Nita will be held on Monday, December 23rd from 10-11 am at Webb & Stephens Funeral Homes-North. Chapel Service will begin at 11am with Bro. Marty Harper officiating the services. Burial will take place Mt. Sterling Baptist Church Cemetery in Butler, Alabama.
