Mrs. Gladys Taylor

Mrs. Gladys Taylor 50, of Rowan Street passed away unexpectedly July 7, 2016. She was the loving wife of Mr. Christopher Taylor Sr. Gladys Taylor was born in Bronx, New York, on November 12, 1965, to the late George and Beatrice (Simmons) Washington the youngest of five chil-dren. Gladys received her early education at P.S. 31 and Elijah D. Clark Junior High School in Bronx, NY. Gladys received her High School Diploma in 1982 from, High School of Fashion Industries in Manhattan, NY where she studied fashion merchandising. She then attended Lehman College in Bronx, NY, where she majored in accounting and finance. Gladys relocated to Dan-bury, Connecticut in 1986 where she met her best friend and future husband Christopher Taylor Sr., On April 30, 1993, Gladys married Christopher. They loved each other deeply and were often inseparable. Gladys suffered from depression and was an advocate for Mental Health education. Still yet she is remembered for her sense of humor and her laughter. Gladys retired from State of Connecticut in 2006 due to medical issues. Gladys had a spirited personality, she could be a bit abrasive at times, as she was not always politically correct but she was genuinely loved by all. Gladys was a writer and often expressed herself through her poetry. She loved music and was Teena Marie's biggest fan. She also loved to dance. She once said, "YOU CAN TELL IF A PERSON CAN REALLY DANCE IF THEY CAN DANCE ON THE OFFBEAT". She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Besides her husband Christopher, Gladys is survived by, one daughter, An-drea (Chad) Racine, of Plainville, CT one son, Christopher Taylor Jr. of Danbury, two grandchildren, Evan and Eden Racine, three sisters; Charleset-ta Simmons, Beatrice Prentice both of Queens, NY Alethia Williams of Flo-ville, GA, and one brother, Samuel Washington, of Waldon, NY, one uncle; Harry Simmons, one sister-in-law; Pauline Washington, three brothers-in-law; Gary Taylor, Irvin Taylor, and Barrington Bartlett, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. She was pre-deceased by two Aunts, Elizabeth Polite, and Tilly Simmons.
