Gladys White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewis Funeral Homes & Crematory - Milton Chapel on Jan. 25, 2026.
Gladys Christine "Chris" White, age 96, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, and went to be with the Lord. She had a deep faith, complete trust in Jesus Christ, and a genuine love for her church family. She faithfully taught her children to love God and live by His word.

She is now joyfully reunited in heaven with her husband of 65 years, Carroll "C.R." White; her son, Kenneth White; her daughter, Nancy Bell; and her grandson, Ryan W. Bartholomew.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Dennis (Sid) and Barbara Thompson (John); and her daughter-in-law, Sabet White. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Lynn English (Tim), Jennifer Bell, Sarah Atkins (Fletcher), Christie White, Jake White (Nicole), and Jonna Thompson; as well as her cherished great-grandchildren: Cayleigh White, Vera English, Asher English, Aubrey Davidson, and Sadie Lowery.

Chris was raised in Medina, Tennessee, where she learned the value of hard work at an early age while growing up on a farm. As the oldest, she became a caregiver to her younger siblings-a role she continued throughout her life as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She met her husband while he was serving in the United States Air Force in Arizona, and they soon married. Together they raised four children, first in Pensacola, Florida, and later retired to his hometown of Bagdad, Florida.

After dedicating many years to raising her family with love and care, Chris worked at Monsanto, where she retired after 20 years of faithful service.

She had many talents and hobbies and was especially known for her wonderful cooking-most famously her sour cream pound cake. She was an excellent seamstress who lovingly made clothing for her children and others, and she found great joy in crocheting beautiful afghans for family members.

Chris was known for her kindness, joyful spirit, and gentle heart. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her life revolved around her family. She was a friend to all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Havens of Pensacola for their compassionate, loving, and constant care. They are comforted knowing she received the very best care.

Visitation for Chris will be held prior to the funeral service, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Lewis Funeral Home, 6405 U.S. Highway 90, Milton, Florida 32570.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church Milton, 6797 Caroline Street, Milton, Florida 32570.

I grew up with this family. They lived across the street from us. She was like a second mother.. Pat, Barbara, Nancy and Kenny. They were like 2nd family. It pains me to see one of the last of this generation to pass. I will forever remember you. God bless you and keep you,may his grace shine upon you, for now and evermore.
