Gladys S. Zimmerly

Gladys Sarah Zimmerly of Springdale passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on July 21, 2025, at 97. Gladys was born on March 9, 1928, to the late Anthony and Ursula Vasiliauskas Muroski. Gladys was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Creighton. She happily peeled potatoes alongside her husband, Bud, for the Parish Fish Fry. Gladys loved her family and showed it often through her cooking, especially with her son, Albert. Gladys loved flowers. She worked at Peterson's Greenhouse and took great pride in her flower beds. She was dedicated to the success of the family business, Springdale Floral & Gift Shop, tirelessly helping clean flowers and doing bookkeeping. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert John "Bud" Zimmerly; her brother, Anthony Muroski; and her sisters, Lillian Muroski, Helen Gladowski, Mary Mojack, and Irene Rutka. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (John) Davitt; and son, Albert Zimmerly Jr., both of Springdale; four grandchildren, Sarah (Joel) of Spokane, WA, J.P. of Pittsburgh, Scott of Washington, and Alyssa (Justin) of Wexford; and six great-grandchildren, Norah, Grace, Easton, Ava, Jack, and Adeline; and numerous other loving relatives. Friends and family will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME, Springdale, 801 Pgh. St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at St. Mary of Czestochowa Catholic Church in New Kensington. Parting prayers at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
