Glen and Bonnie McKenna of Chester, Iowa passed away the morning of April 11, 2023 in a plane crash at the ages of 72 and 70 years old. They were returning home after spending the winter in Cal-Nev-Ari, NV.
Glen Robert McKenna was born on March 11, 1951, to Floyd and Lillian (Barenz) McKenna in Osage, IA. He was the youngest of four children.
Bonnie Jean McKenna was born May 25, 1952, to Everett & Iola (Carlson) Harrington at their home in Mower County, MN. She was one of five children.
Glen and Bonnie were united in marriage on February 8th, 1969. They were blessed with three children – Lori, John and Jason.
If Glen wasn't in his plane, he was found on a green tractor at Roe Farms. He was employed with them for nearly 30 years. Prior to her retirement, Bonnie was employed at Pemstar in Rochester, MN. She worked there for over 20 years.
Glen and Bonnie lived near Chester, IA and wintered in Cal-Nev-Ari, NV. This was a dream of theirs as they found a home on a runway. They made many amazing friends and enjoyed flying, going on UTV rides and sitting on their front porch. While back in Iowa, you would find them flying, camping or spending time with family and friends.
They are survived by their children: John (Amanda Dozark) of Riceville, IA and Jason (Rachael Underbakke) of West Liberty, IA, grandchildren: Brandon and Nikki Livingston, Trae Dozark, Harper McKenna, Zander Dozark, Jasmin McKenna, Courtney (Brian) Reicks, Marissa McKenna, Riley McKenna and Jake Underbakke, four great-grandchildren: Kaden and Elliana Reicks, Karysn McKenna and Alita Dozark. They are also survived by Glen's mother Lillian McKenna, his siblings: Ruth (Roger) Stark, Allen (Margaret) McKenna and Dorothy (Jim) Saltou. Bonnie's siblings: Barb (Loran) Berge, Dick (Sandra) Harrington, Bob (Pat) Harrington, Randy (Deb Oltman) Harrington, many nieces, nephews and friends both in Iowa and Nevada.
They were preceded in death by their daughter Lori, Bonnie's sister Eileen Tienter, Glen's father Floyd McKenna and Bonnie's parents, Everett and Iola Harrington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the family.
A public visitation will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 from 4-7pm at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco.
Memorial services will be held privately for the family. Burial will take place at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Beaver Township, Fillmore County, MN.
