Obituary published on Legacy.com by Danekas Funeral Chapel & Crematory - Chewelah on Sep. 28, 2022.
Glen Nelson Bundy, age 87, a 79-year resident of Chewelah, WA passed away on Sept. 21, 2022 in Spokane, WA. Glen was born on August 25, 1935 in Fairfield, ID the son of Sanford Glen Harrison and Emma Susana (Fenton) Bundy.
Glen began his early years in Fairfield where they were raised in a rustic mountain cabin until he was nine. In 1946, their family then moved to a ranch near Chewelah, WA where Glen began his own farm operation to save the farm. He attended school in Chewelah and graduated in 1953 as an accomplished athlete. He returned to the farm until he is drafted at the age of 24 into the U.S. Army. Glen answered the call and was stationed at the Presidio Base in San Francisco, CA. While there, Glen met Barbara White and after a short courtship they exchanged vows He received an early discharge after serving 18 months and they returned to Chewelah. Soon their family began to grew by two, first with the birth of their son, Michael, and second with their daughter, Pamela. Barbara began to suffer with a degenerative disease which led to her death when the children were only 3 & 5years old. The children moved into the care of Glen's family in Spokane while he worked to keep the farm. He would eventually meet and marry Roberta Freeman Henricks. They combine families with her three children and his two again at the ranch (and one small bathroom for all)! Roberta fell ill and was diagnosed with cancer. After many years, treatments and surgeries, Glen lost her to the disease. He continued working the land and had covered many different facets of farming over the years from dairy to beef livestock and wheat to alfalfa crops. With the nudge of their families, Glen and Suzy Culverwell took an interest in each other. They wed in 1990 and found shared interest in gardening, family gatherings and fishing the Columbia. Glen farmed on the family ranch until he could no longer do so.
He spent many hours outdoors in the fields tending to the livestock, crops and the occasional hunt. He worked to stretch each dollar, pinch each penny and save what was left. He worked with what he had on hand and found ways to make things work with his resourceful nature. Glen grew gardens-a-plenty with award winning vegetables and plentiful harvests. He worked hard, played occasionally and his roots ran deep in the soil of the family farm.
He was a past member of the Chewelah Jaycees through the Chamber of Commerce, and the Town Team Baseball League. He served on the Farm Service board for 12 years and on the school board in Chewelah.
Glen was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Ariella Bolen and Aaron Bundy; three siblings, Lilla Bundy Webb, Nathan (Jayne) Bundy and Dale (Elta}Bundy.
