Glen Ray Johnson

Glen Ray Johson, father, brother, and friend, passed away in Lubbock, Texas, on February 22, 2026. He was 72 years old.

Glen was born on June 6, 1953, in Levelland, Texas, to Joanna and Ray Johnson. He grew up in Lubbock, Texas, attended church at Northside Church of Christ, and graduated from New Deal High School in 1972, where he was very successful in football, basketball, and tennis.

Glen enjoyed the outdoors, particularly fishing and hunting with his sons. His love for sports, especially golfing carried on throughout his life. He refereed football, volleyball, and basketball for over 40 years. He worked in many different fields but spent most of his life as a landscaper.

Glen was preceded in death by his mother, Joanna Johnson; his father, Ray Johnson; and his sister, Kim Burt.

He is survived by his two sons, Jesse Johnson of Midland and Derek Johnson and wife Kristin of Lubbock; two sisters, Beverly Petty and Sherry Thomas; four grandchildren, Haylee, Kolby, Cutter, and Evelyn; and four great-grandchildren.

The family that is left behind will miss him, but we take comfort in our faith and knowing that he is at peace in the presence of God and those who left before him.
