Glen Richard Larson

Glen R. Larson passed away on February 20, 2026 in Spokane, WA. Glen was born on January 10, 1936 at his parents home near Holt, MN. His parents, Clarence O. Larson and Bertha Moe Larson, were farmers and Glen was the last of eleven children. He grew up there and was baptized and confirmed in the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt. He graduated from Newfolden (MN) High School (now Marshall County Central) in 1953. He joined the Air Force in January 1955 and spent much or his enlistment stationed at Fairchild AFB near Spokane, WA. In June of 1958 he was united in marriage with Marlene Joyce Rasmussen. In September of 1958 he separated from the Air Force to resume his education at Whitworth. In the Fall of 1959 he transferred to the University of Minnesota where he entered the School of Pharmacy. He received his degree in Pharmacy in 1963 and subsequently practiced in both hospital and retail settings, and with a partner established the Apache Medical Center Pharmacy. He joined Abbott Laboratories in 1968 as a Research Pharmacist in North Chicago, IL. In 1972 he was named Manager of International Hospital Products Research and Development. In 1975 He was promoted to Director responsible for Large and Small Volume Parenterals, Medical Device Development, International Packaging, and all product documentation for the International Division of Abbott Labs. Until his retirement in 1997 he held a variety of management positions, including Engineering and Major Capital projects. After his retirement, he and his wife Marlene returned to Spokane County.

Glen and Marlene had a hobby of breeding and showing Old English Sheepdogs to their AKC Championships. They finished Championships on over 60 Old English Sheepdogs. Glen was an officer in the Old English Sheepdog Club of America, the Chicagoland Old English Sheepdog Club, and the Illinois Dog Clubs and Breeders Assn. They continued their hobby after moving to Spokane County, and Glen became President of the Inland Empire Kennel Assn., a position he held for over 15 years.

Glen is survived by his wife Marlene, sister, Arielle Daly of New Jersey, numerous nephews and nieces, as well as great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by brothers Chester and Clayton, sisters Eleanor, Vivian, Marian, Eileen and Iris, as well as twins who died shortly after birth.

Arrangements are by the Heritage Funeral Home. He will be interred at the Medical Lake Veterans Cemetery.
