Obituary published on Legacy.com by Trout Funeral Home & Crematory - Ponca City on Dec. 9, 2025.
Glen S. Witteman, long-time resident of Ponca City, passed away peacefully at home, in the early hours of Friday, November 21, 2025. He was born on August 5, 1948, in
Kansas City, Missouri, to Neil and Animone Witteman. As he started grade school in Ponca City, his dad died from a car accident. Animone married Olin Overholt, a U.S. Army veteran, and the family lived in Germany, Austin, Texas, and other stations, but finally settled again in Ponca City. On August 17, 1968, Glen married the love of his life, Sue Boydstun, and they made their happy home in Ponca City, where he would live out his life. He was a wonderful husband, father, and a doting grandpa.
Glen was a Christian. He accepted Jesus as his Lord & Savior at the age of six at First Baptist Church, Ponca City. He was baptized by Dr. Evans T. Moseley. It was important to him that he worked for the cause of Christ, and yet knew he was still a sinner, saved by grace.
Glen was a hard worker. He started in the 1960's as a printer at Braudrick Printing for Claude Braudrick and Bob Thomas. Glen began work in the Conoco Refinery in 1982, retiring in 2006. In the Refinery, he was one of the founding members of the Emergency Response Team, and also served as a firefighter, and as a Hazardous Materials Specialist.
Glen was a volunteer. He said the takers outnumber the givers, and you should use your time, money, and talents to even out the odds. In the 1970's, he gave his time to the Jaycees including several large productions like the July 4th fireworks display and
Special Olympics. He was in the second class of the Citizens Police Academy, was on the Ponca City Library Board, and a member of the Kay County Local Emergency Planning Commission,
and packed boxes for Operation Pioneer Spirit. He loved his time serving at the Tallgrass Prairie Nature Conservancy near Pawhuska and meeting visitors from all over. He loved to travel and see new places. He also served as a deacon at First Baptist Church.
Glen was preceded in death by his father, Neil Witteman; mother, Animone Brown Witteman Overholt; step father, Olin Overholt; older brother, Richard Hinecker; step-sister, Barbara Rich; brothers-in-law, Don Boydstun and Mike Boydstun; and parents-in-law, Alton & Lorene Boydstun.
He is survived by his wife, Sue, of the home; daughter, Angie (Mark) Dishman of Dallas Texas, daughter, Carrie (Jon) Prough of Oklahoma City; his very much-loved grandchildren: Susanna, Lydia, and Luke Dishman, & Crewe and Cait Prough; and brothers-in-law, Jim Boydstun and Terry Rich; step-brother, Charles Overholt; brother, Kenneth Witteman; sisters-in-law, Diane Boydstun, Suzi Boydstun, Barbara Boydstun, and Maria Grandinette; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends.
