Glen Wright Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williamson - White Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Amery on Mar. 5, 2026.
Glen Donald Wright, age 91, of Amery, Wisconsin passed away peacefully in the arms of his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Willow Ridge Healthcare in Amery.

Glen was born in Lincoln Township, WI on April 8, 1934 to Charles and Grace (Caverly) Wright. He attended grade school in the one-room Pine Hill country school house until they moved to Range, where he graduated from Turtle Lake High School in 1952. Throughout high school, he was involved in FFA holding positions locally and at state. Due to his father being sick, Glen was running the family dairy farm at a young age and took it over full time after graduating.

Glen met Louise Henderson at Moulton's Roller Dome in Rush City, Minnesota. They had their first date on January 20, 1962 when they went to an auto show in Minneapolis. Glen and Louise were married in Cherokee, Iowa on December 29, 1962, and to this union two sons joined, Stephen and Douglas.

Although he was a lifelong dairy farmer, he had many ambitions. In the early 70's, Glen began selling insurance for Luck Mutual, which he continued for many years eventually being voted president of the company. He was a delegate for Dairy Farmers of America, he served on the Beaver Town board from supervisor to chairman, as well as holding various positions at Apple River Community Church where he was a lifelong member. His faith was very important to him. Glen served the Lord in many capacities at church including chairman, elder, building projects, teaching, and singing-he was always active. In 1991, their youngest son, Douglas, passed away. Glen and Louise then spent many years leading Grief Share where they met and helped many people struggling with loss through this support group.

Glen loved camping and spending time with friends. He was a member of Christian Campers, would enjoy trips to Bible camps like Skonewood and Arrowhead, as well as many trips with "the gang" to places including Minnesota's North Shore; Banff, Canada; Glacier National Park, and local music gatherings.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas; sister, Ada, and brother, Grant.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise; son, Stephen (Denise) Wright; grandchildren, Charles, Calvin, Corbin (Alice), and Clara; sister, Ruth Sorenson, and many other loving friends and family.

A visitation will be on Monday, March 9, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Williamson-White Funeral Home in Amery, WI. His celebration of life will be held 11:00am on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Apple River Community Church in Amery with a visitation one hour prior.

The family would like to thank Willow Ridge Healthcare and Adoray Home Health and Hospice for the care and compassion Glen received.
