On November 2, 2025, Heaven received one of its angels when Glenda Joyce (Grimes) Cantlon went home to be with her Lord. Born in Mt. Vernon, Texas on October 17, 1936, Glenda was the loving daughter of Willard Grimes and Joy (McDonough) Grimes; and sister to Donna (Grimes) Kenyon, brother-in-law, Clyde Kenyon, and brother, Jim Grimes.
Glenda and the love of her life, Joe Alexander Cantlon, Jr., were high school sweethearts at Central High School in Helena, Arkansas. They married in June of 1955, and always remained steadfast in their devotion to each other. Glenda is survived by her four sons, Greg Cantlon and wife, Suellen, Mike Cantlon and wife, Melissa, Joe Dan Cantlon and wife, Karin, and Cliff Cantlon.
Glenda cherished their grandchildren, Justin Cantlon, Meghan (Cantlon) Dixon and husband, Blake Dixon, and Tyler Cantlon; great-grandchildren, Ashlynn Cantlon and Jackson and Augustus Dixon; and nieces Jamie Gentry and Amy Stanford.
Glenda was preceded in death by both her parents; her brother, Jim Grimes; and in-laws, Joe Cantlon, Sr. and Corinne Cantlon.
Glenda and Joe spent their years living all over the world, including Singapore and England, before finally settling in Oak Ridge North in the 1970s, where they raised their four sons. Glenda had a love for crossword puzzles, reading and collecting spoons from around the world. She and Joe found great joy in traveling, hunting, and fishing together.
Glenda's sly smile and laughter made everyone feel happy and special just being around her. Glenda's spirit will live on forever in all of us that had the pleasure of knowing her.
A memorial service honoring Glenda's life will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 10 A.M. at Walters Funeral Home, 610 South Commerce Street, Centerville, Texas 75833 with Boyd King serving as the officiant.
