Glenda Jane (Barnes) Grant, 89, of Central City, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, surrounded by her family. Glenda was born on December 28, 1936, to Melvie (Pavin) and Earl Barnes in Anamosa, Iowa. She graduated from Central City High School in 1955. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Duane Patrick Grant on July 6, 1955. They were farming partners for 70 years.

Glenda also worked at Collins Radio, her mother-in-law's Country Café in Marion, and Country Kettle in Central City. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, riding her horses, baking and decorating for all of her family's birthdays, weddings, graduations, and any occasion cakes. Glenda loved watching her grandkids and great-grandkids in multiple activities. She was a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, where she was an active volunteer. Glenda especially enjoyed spring mushroom hunting, playing in a card club with friends for almost 70 years, and dancing the night away with her husband.

Glenda is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 70 years, Duane Grant; four daughters, Rebecca (David) Shurtz, Robin Starks, Roxanne Tapken, and Rita (Brian) Burrell; six grandchildren, Brandy (Clint) Starks, Shawn Starks, Trent Tapken, Samantha (Jon) Lorom, Brandon Burrell, and Tyler (Anna) Burrell; five great-grandchildren, Jen Fye, Sydney and Colton Visek, and Maverick and Ellis Burrell; her siblings, Nancy Weers, Donald (Kathleen) Barnes, Kathy (Carl) Clang, Suzanne (Carl) Offerman, and Gary (Kris) Barnes; sister-in-law, Nancy Barnes; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Keith Tapken; stepfather, Joe Wright; two sisters, Betty Dirks and Joyce Stutt; one brother, Edwin Barnes; and three brothers-in-law, Lawrence Weers, Gerald Dirks, and Leonard Stutt.

Glenda will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to Care Initiatives Hospice of Manchester for the opportunity to stay in her home and the dedicated and loving care during Glenda's final days.
