Glenda Lee Maynard Barrett, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025 at the age of 87. She was affectionately known as Mama, Nana, Great Nanie, Sister, Aunt Glenda, and Tut. Glenda was born in Nashville on October 24, 1938 to Verna Lee and Glenn Maynard. She was preceded in death by her husband and high school sweetheart, Floyd Duke Barrett; her brothers, Allen Maynard and Guy Maynard (Sherry); and sister, June Maynard Walden (Dick).
Glenda is survived by her beloved son, Mark Alan Barrett (Nancy); grandchildren, Christie Barrett Harrison (Phillip) and William Mark Barrett (Hillary); great grandchildren, Barrett Alton Harrison, Elizabeth Duke Harrison, William Bridges Barrett, and Owen Walter Barrett; as well as many adored nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of Bellevue High School, where she played basketball and served as senior class President. An avid sports fan, she enjoyed cheering on the Vanderbilt Commodores and her family members at countless games and events. She loved telling stories about growing up on River Road and the good old days at Gasser Banners, where the work hours were long but the pranks were plentiful.
Glenda was married to the love of her life, Floyd, for 62 years, and their family was her world. She dedicated her life to generously loving and caring for those around her. Glenda cherished time spent with family and friends and had a special love for Pud Maynard and Aileen Hardwick.
Visitation will be held at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens on December 5, 2025 at 10:00 am. A celebration of life service will begin at 11:00 am with the burial following. The Barrett family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the care team at Blakeford Senior Life, especially Colleen, Jennifer, Aubry, Irma, and Maria. Also, we have immense gratitude for the loving care of Becca and Rachael at Adoration Hospice.
