Glenda Hebert Smelser passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Grace Health and Rehab in Slaughter, LA, at the age of 69, surrounded by her family. She was a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Grosse Tete. Glenda retired from the State of Louisiana after holding many administrative positions throughout her 33 year career. Visitation will be at Wilbert Funeral Home in Port Allen on Thursday, August 21st, from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, August 22nd, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Port Allen, from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., celebrated by Rev. Jerry Martin. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Grosse Tete. Pallbearers will be Laremy Howard, Kaleb Clark, Les Miguez, Jason Rasti, Logan Brewer, Bryant Ashley, Pat Babin and Chad Hebert. Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Babin and Jim Tullier. Glenda is survived by her husband of 35 years, Kevin T. Smelser, Sr.; children, April Clouatre Rasti and husband Jason, Kevin Trent Smelser, Jr. and daughter-in-love, Mollie Olinde; six grandchildren, Brittany Rasti Howard (Laremy), Amber Graves Clark (Kaleb), Jacelyn Rasti Miguez (Les), Anna Grace Olinde, Luke Shannon Rasti, Ella Joyce Smelser; seven great-grandchildren, Rylan Kimble, Harper Clark, Woody Clark, Charlotte Howard, Kale Clark, Stevie-Ann Clark, Henry Howard; sister-in-law, Tami Smelser; numerous nieces and nephews. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Agnes Angelle Hebert; siblings, Mary Tullier, Russell Hebert, Renella Hebert, Nellie McDonner, Eve Ashley, Ernest Hebert, Ricky Hebert; father and mother-in-law, Walter and Pauline Smelser; brother-in-law, Keith Smelser. The joy of Glenda's life was spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook who loved hosting Christmas gatherings at her home and liked to watch Lifetime and Hallmark TV. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Grace Health and Rehab, especially Tatianna, Nakisha, Byrd, Destini and Robertha. They would also like to thank Hospice of Baton Rouge.
