Glenda Dale Thresher, 73, passed away on May 10, 2025. Born in Magnolia, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Dale C. and Claudia Faye Hendrix. She graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1969, earned her bachelor's degree from Henderson State University in 1974, a master's from UTSA, and her counselor's certification from Texas State University.
Glenda was a dedicated military spouse, educator, counselor, and principal who worked at every level of education from elementary school through university. Over several tours with the SCUCISD she was selected as the teacher of the year and the counselor of the year. She was most proud of her work as an "at risk" counselor and as the Principal of the San Antonio Refugee English School. As a military spouse she was a tireless advocate for the military community and was formally recognized as a Yellow Rose of Texas by Governor George W. Bush, for her contributions to military families.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, Col. (ret.) William H. Thresher; her daughter, Dr. Catherine Frank and her husband Jeff; her son, John Thresher and his wife Kari); and grandchildren Kaelyn Thresher, Logan Frank, Kamryn Thresher and Austin Frank plus numerous nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Linda Hickerson.
A celebration of life will be held at Lifehouse Church at 20825 Wilderness Oak, San Antonio, Texas, 78258 on 31 May, 2025 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Four Square Disaster Relief, or The Fisher House Foundation.
