Glenda Oakley Wyrick, 84, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on August 20, 2025, in Abilene. Glenda's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love for her family and a strong, independent spirit. She was born in Big Spring, Texas, on September 28, 1940, to James and Winne Dell "Sue" Oakley.
Glenda found happiness in marriage twice, first to Warren Tellgren, with whom she had three children: James Russell, Warren Dell, and Patreese Adele (Butler). Later, she married Arvil Wyrick, and together they welcomed two more children, Mark Kevin and Kathleen Estelle (Collom). Glenda was the kind of person who approached every challenge with a quiet determination and unwavering spirit. Her independence was evident throughout her life, and she never shied away from doing things her own way. This strength was balanced by a deep and unconditional love for her family and friends, which was the cornerstone of her life. As "Mamaw," she was a constant source of support and affection, offering a listening ear, a comforting hug, or a word of encouragement whenever it was needed. Her love extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of many, and her warm presence will be deeply missed.
Glenda is survived by her children, James and Michele Tellgren, Patreese Adele Tellgren (Butler), Mark Kevin Wyrick, and Kathleen Estelle Wyrick (Collom). She is also survived by her sister, Pasty Raye Oakley (Gregg), twelve grandchildren, and a multitude of great-grandchildren.
