Glenn DeFord Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 21, 2025.
July 2, 1944 - September 10, 2025 In loving memory of Glenn Dale DeFord, 81 of Yuma, Arizona (and Corvallis, Oregon), who passed away peacefully on September 10th 2025. Born July 2, 1944 in Bremerton, WA to Dale and Irene DeFord, was a husband to Judith Middleton (DeFord) for 51 years prior to her passing in 2020. He was a wonderful and devoted father to Heidi DeFord (Mayse) and grandfather to Lake Stehle, Torin Mayse, and Cole Mayse.

Glenn was known to all as "Skip". He attended both Philomath and Corvallis High Schools and excelled in mathematics, football and wrestling. He was drafted into the US Army serving in the Vietnam War in 1965 where he served as a water treatment lead and rose to the rank of Corporal.

When he met his future wife Judy Middleton, he began attending Sheet Metal Journeyman school and working for her father, Ken at Middleton Heating & Sheet Metal, Inc. Skip went on to graduate Journeyman school and to purchase Middleton Heating. He used his legendary work ethic, determined grit, and skillful pragmatism to grow his father-in-law's company into the treasured community mainstay it has become.

Skip was a member at Foothills Assembly of God, an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed watching sports. He took an active roll in his grandsons schooling and loved attending their baseball and football games. Along Skips journeys, he accumulated a vast array of friends. He was a man of the people, and chances are, if you live in Yuma or Corvallis and didn't know him directly, you know someone who did. Skip never met a stranger and was always happy to lend a had to anyone in need.

Skip will always have a special place in the hearts and memories of his family and friends and will be sorely missed.

A memorial service to celebrate Skip's wonderful life will be held at Sunset Vista, 11357 East 40th Street, Yuma AZ 85367 at 11:00 a.m. on November 5th, 2025.
