Glenn Evertt Dennis, 99, of Odessa, Missouri passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024, at his daughter, Cindy’s residence in Odessa. 

 

Visitation will be held from 10:00a.m. to 11:00a.m., Friday, March 15, 2024, at the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 12507 Mt. Tabor Road, Odessa, Missouri, 64076. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00a.m., Friday, March 15, 2024. Interment will follow at Odessa Cemetery in Odessa, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. Glenn was born in Independence, Missouri on January 25, 1925, to Oscar G. and Birdie Lee (Rudd) Dennis. He attended Wellington High School. In the fall of 1944, he was drafted into the United States Army. He left for France on December 24, 1944, and was wounded February 3, 1945 near Luxembourg. He achieved the Rank of Private First Class and received a Purple Heart before he was honorably discharged in 1946. Dennis retired after 30 years working as a machinist for Allis-Chalmers. Glenn was united in marriage on July 5, 1957, to Virginia Sue Butler in Corinth, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on October 19, 1988. Glenn married Louise (Griffey) Ehlert on June 10, 1995, in Odessa, Missouri. She preceded him in death on May 30, 2015. He was a member of VFW post 5675.  Glenn was an active member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.  Along with spending time with family and friends, Glenn enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and watching the Kansas City Royals play baseball. 

 

Glenn is survived by two children, Linda (Doug) Dooling of Odessa, MO, and Cindy (Dan) Crider of Odessa, MO; two step daughters, Rosalyn Ehlert of Odessa, MO, and Donna Ehlert of Odessa, MO; one stepson, Johnny Ehlert of Odessa, MO; three grandchildren, Greg (Chelsea) Meador of Columbia, MO, Chrissy (Scott) Everett of Hillsboro, MO; and Elzabeth Meador of Odessa, MO; one sister, Alice Stever of Topeka, KS; a cousin, Virgil Rudd of Independence, MO, and many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.  

 

Along with both parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his wives, Virginia Sue Butler and Louise Ehlert; two infant children, Annie Sue Dennis, and Baby Dennis; stepson, Ray (Sandy) Ehlert; son-in-law, Tim Meador; a grandchild, Victoria Dooling, five brothers, Ray Dennis, James Kenneth Dennis, Lawrence Dennis, Donald Dennis, and Charles Wayne Dennis.
