Glenn Dotson Obituary

Rev. Glenn David Dotson, 83, of Maryville, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Thursday, October 23, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 23, 1942, in Paris, Kentucky, and was lovingly raised by his grandparents, the late William W. and Mattie (McClain) Dotson.
Glenn graduated from God's Bible School High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1962 and earned a Bachelor of Theology degree from God's Bible School in 1967. While at GBS, he met the love of his life, Ruth Rummel, and they were married on July 3, 1964, on Ruth's 20th birthday.
Rev. Dotson faithfully served as a pastor for 43 years across Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Indiana, and Tennessee. Reserved yet warm, friendly, and fun-loving, he had a special gift for connecting with teenagers and young adults, helping them discover their life's calling. He often said that God was first in his life, his family second, and the church third. At the Dotson home, every Friday night was family night, filled with games and laughter. He was a devoted father, and his children always felt his encouragement and support.
Glenn faced life's challenges with grace and kindness. He loved sports, especially basketball, and was a devoted fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Music was a passion, particularly bluegrass and classical, and he delighted in singing. He also cherished nature, enjoying walks, trails, and birdwatching. Most of all, he adored his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Glenn's memory include his beloved wife of 61 years, Ruth Dotson; his daughter, Kimberly Dotson Walker of Richmond, VA; his daughter-in-law, Esther (Kenny) Dotson Conner of Ridgeville, IN; eight grandchildren, Sharlenae (Phillip Jr.) Collingsworth, Brianna (Bryan) Plumley, Dr. Luke (Dasha) Dotson, Jillaina Dotson, Katelyn Walker, Emily (Bryce) Watson, Caleb Walker, and Rachel Walker; five great-grandchildren, Noah, Mia, and Thomas Collingsworth, Carson Plumley, and Jack Watson; his sister, Patsy (Waller) Cooper; three brothers, Ron Judd, and twins Terry (Amy) Judd and Jerry Judd; and several nieces and nephews.
He was joyously reunited in heaven with his son, Tim Dotson, who passed away unexpectedly on October 27, 2004, and his brother, Paul Horn.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Randolph Friends Church, 6531 N. 300 W., Ridgeville, IN, with Glenn's nephew, Rev. Billy McCoy, officiating. Graveside services will be held privately in Jericho Cemetery near Winchester. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Sproles Family Funeral Home, New Castle, IN.
