Funeral Service for Glenn Eckelberg, 80, of Mesa, AZ formerly of Killdeer, ND, will be 11:00 am, Monday, February 9, 2026 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Killdeer. Burial will follow at the Werner Cemetery, Werner, ND.
Visitation for Glenn will be 10:00 am, one hour prior to the service.
Glenn passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026 in Mesa, Arizona.
Glenn was born in Richardton on December 8, 1945, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Overgaard) Eckelberg. As a young boy, he grew up on the family farm in Werner and he attended his elementary grade school years in Hope Country School. His junior high years and two years of high school were spent in Dunn Center, and his junior and senior years were at Campus High in Dickinson where he graduated in 1963. Following graduation, Glenn served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1967. Returning back to North Dakota, Glenn attended Dickinson State University and earned his Business Education degree in 1971. He then resided on the family farm in Werner until 1977 and worked in Halliday. Glenn married Karen Temanson and were married from 1969-1986. They proudly raised his children, Terry, Tammy, Karrie and Tim. In 1977, Killdeer became his home until 2023. Glenn's community service included: Dunn County Commissioner for two terms, SW Water Board of Directors, Dunn County Zoning Board and a member of VFW Legion of Killdeer. Glenn loved his life on the farm/ranch. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and had a love for cars. His happiness glowed when he was able to spend time with his grandchildren.
Glenn is survived by his sons, Terry (Denae) Eckelberg of Dickinson; Tim (Becky) Eckelberg of Mesa, AZ; daughters, Tammy (Jesse) Handegard of Bismarck, Karrie (Mike) Schelin of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Madison, Makenna and Macy Eckelberg, Kinsey, Cannon and Avery Schelin, Aspen and Case Eckelberg; sisters, Donna Praus of Killdeer, Lavonne Dodge of Riverside, CA, Arlene Kukowski of San Diego, CA, Jane Erickson of Sun Marcos, CA.
He was preceded in death his parents, Henry and Elizabeth; brother, Paul; niece, Michelle Scott.
