In March of 1932, when Glenn was 9 months old the family moved to a farm on the state line south and west of Hardy, Nebraska. He attended Hardy Public School 1st through 12th grade. He participated in football, basketball and track all 4 years of high school and for 3 years he did the pole vault, winning each year. He was selected for all state in football his senior year.
Glenn attended Doane college after graduating from high school. He played football and competed in track. He also competed in the pole vault at nationals in Texas where he tied for 2nd and his form of transportation was hitch hiking. He also competed in the Senior Olympics in Florida and Phoenix at the age of 90.
In August of 1952, he was inducted into the United States Army and was sent to Fort Ord in California, then Fort Lewis in Washington, then on to Korea. They lived on the Sorensen family farm north of Hardy for 3 years where he helped with the farming. They later moved to the farm ½ mile north in June of 1957 and continued to live there.
Glenn served on the Hardy cemetery board for many years, and was a member of the American Legion. He ran a coffee shop in Hardy for many years and had a museum with Hardy memorabilia next to it.
They went to Jamaica when Glenn served on the Hardy coop board, and they also went to Europe while their son Greg was stationed in Germany. They enjoyed traveling and drove many miles to watch their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participate in sports and music. He was a farmer and gardener, and had a good market for his sweet corn and vegetables at a stand on the highway west of Hardy.
