Glenn Winiford Goar, 83 born on July 2nd, 1941 in a motel room in Mountainair, New Mexico to Darnell Winiford Goar and Pearl Leona Burns. Two years later, his little sister Darla Ann joined the household and kept Glenn on his toes. Glenn attended Mountainair from grade school through graduation in May of 1959. Glenn’s work ethic was instilled in him at a young age. Growing up on the ranch, he helped with the day-to-day chores wherever Grandad Goar needed it. Additionally, Darnell owned a gas station where you could find Glenn worked at the filling station after school and on the weekends. A year after graduation he started his career with the State Highway Department as an operator for the striping crew. In 1964, Glenn got the call from Uncle Sam and was drafted to serve his county in the United States Army. After bootcamp he was shipped out to Germany and offered to go to officer candidate school but Glenn opted to come home in 1966 and back to work with the highway department. It wasn’t long after his arrival home that he had his first date with Miss Lynda Christine Engle while she was home from college on spring break. By August, they were engaged and the wedding bells rung out on September 2, 1966. Glenn graduated to being a dad in 1967 when Dale Winiford was born followed by Dewayne Glenn in 1969. Glenn avidly provided for his family working with the state but finally hung it up in 1986. Promotion to Pop came with two grandkids: Glenn Tyler Goar in 1990 and Ashley Renee’ Goar in 1991. That’s when the real adventures began when he got to share his passion of hunting and fishing; a joy that started with his dad and carried into unforgettable memories with his sons and grandkids. He spent the summers on Conchas Lake catching walleye like they were going out of style… well maybe not every day but any day was as good day on the water. Most of the time it was just him and his faithful dog waiting for Lynda to be able to join them on the weekends. During elk season, you could find him camping out with his family up north in unit 51. These are the memories and legacy that his family will cherish and carry with them forever.

Glenn started his journey with Christ by joining the Promise Keepers. He made a profession of faith on September 8, 1996 and was baptized shortly thereafter on September 15th at the age of 55. From that point forward he was an active member of Mountainair Baptist Church.

Glenn is proceeded in death by his parents Darnell and Pearl Goar, son Dale Goar, and granddaughter Ashley Goar. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Lynda Goar, Sister Darla Autrey, son Dewayne Goar, Grandson Ty Goar, Aunt Patsy Fitzgerald, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Funeral service will be held Tuesday April 1, 2025. Viewing will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am and a funeral at10:00 am both at the First Baptist Church of Mountainair. Burial will follow at the Mountainair Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dewayne Goar, Ty Goar, Larry Autrey, Jimmy Autrey, Charlie Mountjoy, and John Mountjoy.
