Glenn Edward Johnson, 82, of Reidsville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Gibson House in Reidsville. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, at Evergreen Memory Gardens, with Roger Johnson officiating.

Born in Rockingham County, Glenn was the son of the late James Hunter Johnson and Gladys Barker Johnson. He was a proud member of the Wentworth High School Class of 1961. He went on to attend Gardner-Webb College and later graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. While both were serving their country in the United States Army, Glenn met the love of his life, Carol Alban, at the Pentagon.

Much of Glenn’s career was spent in quality engineering and management, supervising teams within the textile manufacturing industry. Outside of work, he was known for his lifelong passion for automobiles—his very first car was a 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air. He later returned to college to study auto body repair and restored numerous cars as a hobby, taking special pride in the paintwork.

Glenn also had a deep love for music. He sang bass in a college quartet and enjoyed gospel music throughout his life. His leisure time was filled with many interests: attending live music events, dancing, cigars, golf, fishing, college sports, and the occasional lottery ticket for the fun of chance. He served as an Assistant Scout Master for over a decade during his son James’ scouting career.

In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Carol Alban Johnson; his sister, Margaret Johnson Pyrtle; and their rescue dog, Roo, who brought them both great joy in their later years.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Mandy and John Yates of Portland, Maine; his son, James Johnson of Reidsville; and extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rockingham County Animal Shelter, 250 Cherokee Camp Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.
