Glenn David "Dave" Klein, age 91, passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2025, after facing declining health over the past several months. He was just shy of his 92nd birthday.

Dave was born in Prairie Home, MO, on November 14, 1933, and was the youngest of six children born to Jake and Rose Klein. He grew up with his parents and brothers on a small farm and often entertained his grandchildren with stories of riding his horse uphill – both ways – to and from his one-room schoolhouse.

After high school graduation in 1951, Dave moved to Kansas City where he worked for Braniff Airways and Northwest Airlines for 42 years. He also proudly served in the U.S. Navy following World War II as an air traffic controller at Naval Base Coronado and later at Naval Base Kwajalein.

Dave was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO. He served as a Eucharistic Minister, helped to maintain the church lawns and secured donations for the food pantry. Dave was in the Knights of Columbus, volunteered with Boy Scout Troop 180 and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, woodworking and cheering on the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. Dave was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers (Francis, Charles, Norbert, Arnold and Raymond). He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Dona, who he met while both were working at Braniff. They had only spoken on the phone but, on a dare from a co-worker, Dave asked Dona out and the rest was history.

Dave is also survived by his children, Bart (Holly) Klein, Todd (Pam) Klein and Dawn Klein Thibodeau, seven grandchildren (Kristin, Kara, Jamie, Michael, Courtney, Kenzie and Madeline) and two great-grandchildren (Claire and Mia). He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Pooh Bear.

Dave's service will be held Tuesday, November 11, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 900 NE Shady Lane Drive, Kansas City, MO 64118. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am followed by a mass at 11:30 am. He will be laid to rest at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dave's memory to St. Charles Food Pantry (900 NE Shady Lane Drive, Kansas City, MO 64118) or the Bishop Sullivan Center (3936 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64110).

So sorry for your loss. I knew Dave and Dona through my work at the Sunfresh Bakery where they would come and get donations for the pantry. He and I had some amazing conversations.
He will be missed.
