Glenn's journey began in a modest setting, nurtured by his parents, Glen and Ethel Myrtle, who instilled in him the values that shaped his character. He graduated high school in 1948 from Arsenal Technical School in Indianapolis, Indiana. After high school, Glenn heeded the call of his country, proudly serving in the United States Army, where he exemplified bravery, discipline, and dedication.
Following his military service, Glenn devoted his career to the Veterans Administration, working to support others who had served. His career was not simply a job but a service to others, reflecting the same kindness and care that defined his life. Glenn embodied the very essence of what it meant to servant leader.
At home, Glenn shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, Neva, a partnership built on mutual respect and unwavering support. Together, they built a family and a home wherein friends were frequently invited for meals and game nights. Glenn took immense pride in his sons, Stan and Greg, making the most of opportunities to guide and direct them. His influence and wisdom were a steady presence, instilling in them the importance of faith in God and service to the community.
Glenn's faith was the guiding principle in his life and commitment to his church was a core value. He was a dedicated layperson and served the church as a Sunday School teacher, organist, choir member, usher and small group leader. He and his wife were committed volunteers helping their church community. While life was not always easy, Glenn’s faith in God carried him and his peace was in Christ.
As his earthly journey concluded, Glenn left behind an indelible mark on his family, his friends, and his church community. His life story is one of love, faith, and service. The legacy of Glenn Myrtle will be cherished by Neva, Stan, Greg, and all his extended family and friends. He will be forever remembered as a man who put God and others before himself.
