Glenn Duane Ney, 71, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 22, 1954, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Francis Eugene Ney and Echo Ney, both of whom preceded him in death. He lived most of his life in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In July of 1972, Glenn married his high school sweetheart, Cindy Burgon. Together they built a life rooted in love and family and were blessed with three children: Shane, Brad, and Jackie. Glenn was a devoted husband and father, and his family remained his greatest pride throughout his life.
Glenn dedicated many years to hard work and providing for his family. He worked for Kennecott Copper for 15 years before starting his own roofing business, Neyco Roofing. He took great pride in building something of his own through dedication and perseverance. However, one of the most meaningful chapters of his career was the time he spent working alongside his two sons at Steel Encounters. Being able to work side by side with Shane and Brad brought him tremendous pride and fulfillment.
Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Ney; his sons, Shane Ney (Kristi) and Brad Ney (Kara); and his daughter, Jackie Ney. He was a proud grandfather to Austin and Abbie Ney; Dillen Clark; Hunter Ney; Cade Ney; Easten Ney; Gage Ney; and Parker Sirstens. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Kaden Nutt, Harley Ney, Milo Ney, and Kamree Stith.
He is also survived by his brothers, Steve Ney and Bruce Ney, and his sister, Carla Mangum. He was preceded in death by his brother, Craig Ney.
Glenn had a deep love for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family, his nephews, and lifelong friends. Some of his happiest moments were spent in the mountains, on the water, or gathered around camp sharing stories after a long day outside. Time on the lake in his boat brought him peace, and he loved riding his motorcycle with the open road ahead.
He also had a passion for drag racing and cherished the years he spent at Rocky Mountain Raceway. His love for racing was a passion he proudly shared with his best friend, Mike Proctor. The track was more than a hobby — it was a place of excitement, camaraderie, and lifelong memories.
Glenn will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his love of the outdoors and racing, and the many memories he created over the years. His legacy lives on in the generations that follow him. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
Funeral services will be held on February 23, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT 84121, with a viewing taking place a hour prior at 1:00 PM.
