Glenn Peace Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Green Hills Funeral Home - Middlesboro on Dec. 8, 2024.
Glenn Edward Peace, age 87, of Pineville, Kentucky, passed away on December 6, 2024 at his home while surrounded by his family.
He was born June 19, 1937 in Pineville to the late Richard and Sarah Peace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mae Peace.
Glenn attended Bell County High School from 1951-1955, where he was a member of the school's football team. Glenn attended Cumberland College where he received his bachelor's degree.
He began his teaching career at Balkan in 1957 and started teaching at Page when the school opened its doors in 1965. While at Page, he coached boys' and girls' basketball and flag football, and his teaching career spanned 36 years.
Glenn loved anything and everything Bell County High School. He kept stats for Bell County Football for 40 years – missing only 2 games during that time. He was inducted into the 13th Region Hall of Fame in 2019 for his service as a contributor to the athletics program in Bell County.
On November 7th, 2014, Glenn was recognized by Bell County High School with a plaque of appreciation for his many years of service and dedication to the football program. His seat in the Bell County gymnasium has been retired and dedicated to him along with fellow friends.
When he wasn't attending Bell High games, Glenn could be found fishing or growing his garden - he had the best tomatoes! A lover of animals, there wasn't a stray dog Glenn didn't keep. An avid fan of all things Big Blue, Glenn loved his Kentucky Wildcats so much that orange was not allowed to be worn in his household. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Whether you knew Glenn as family, friend, or simply "Bell High's biggest fan", his love for all things blue, and his dedication to the Bobcats will leave a lasting legacy never to be forgotten. There will always be a seat in the gym for you Glenn.
Left to cherish his memory, son Ricky Wayne Peace and wife Leslie, daughter Rebecca Lynn Thacker and husband Wayne, grandchildren Alexis Phelps and husband Ryan, Hunter Peace and wife Haley, Davis Peace, Emily Lewis and husband Ricky, and Mason Peace, greatgrandchildren Aleah Lewis, Brantly Lewis, Rylee Phelps, Jaxon Lewis, Tate Phelps, Elliott Peace, and one on the way, brother Dallas Peace and wife Sandy, as well as many other relatives, friends and the entire Bell County community too numerous to name, but all who will miss him so dearly.
The family of Glenn Peace will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the Bell County High School gymnasium.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the Bell County High School gymnasium with Rev. Freeman Clark and Elder Rick Dorton presiding.
Graveside Services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at the Cox Cemetery, Pineville, Kentucky.
