SIMMONS, GLENN REUBEN went home to be with the Lord on March 6, 2013, at the age of 85. Glenn was born in Golden, Texas on January 23, 1928, to Fairess Clark and Reuben Leon Simmons. He graduated from East Texas University in 1950 with a B.S. degree in Physics and Mathematics. His college education was interrupted for approximately two years by service in the U.S. Army. After graduation from college, he joined Chance Vought Aircraft in Dallas, Texas, which later became the LTV Corporation. He held various administrative positions and rose through the ranks to become Director of Administration of LTV's computer technology subsidiary. Over forty-three years ago, he joined his brother, Harold C. Simmons, in the drugstore and investment business. Glenn had broad experience in management, finance, insurance, flight operations and real estate. He served on the Board of Directors of Contran Corporation, Valhi, Inc., Keystone Consolidated Industries, Inc., CompX International, Inc., NL Industries, Inc., and Kronos Worldwide, Inc. Glenn is survived by his loving wife, Dee, and daughter, D'Andra, whom he affectionately referred to as "his girls." He is also survived by his brothers, Harold and his wife, Annette, Douglas and his wife, Ginger. Other survivors are his nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughters, Susan Carol Armstrong and Martha Anne "Bunny" Newton. Glenn was a devoted Christian who gave generously to his church and various charitable organizations. He faithfully served on the planning and development committee of First Baptist Dallas. He was eagerly looking forward to the dedication of the new church on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013. Glenn loved his family and his many friends. His passions included the great outdoors, particularly hunting, fishing and all animals, especially his many beloved dogs. A memorial service is planned for Monday, March 11, 2013, 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist Dallas, 1707 San Jacinto, Dallas, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dee and Glenn Simmons Foundation, Inc., 5430 LBJ Freeway, Suite 1700, Dallas, Texas 75240.

To Glenn's Family and all of his friends; this world has lost a good man. He was kind, understanding, and loving. He took me on my first and only deer hunting trip, a memory that I will always hold as one of the great journeys of my life. I will continue my journey a little richer and fuller having known such a gentle, caring and humble giant.
