Glenn Alan Underwood, 64, of Belvidere, passed away at home on Monday, April 21, 2025. Born in Wilmington, Delaware, on May 13, 1960, to Glenn and Emma Ruth (Turner) Underwood. Glenn graduated from East High School in Rockford and went on to work for Chrysler in Belvidere for 45 years, retiring two years ago. He married Merilee Jean Underwood on September 19, 2019, in Belvidere. He was a member of UAW Local 1268. Glenn loved to travel, boarding his first cruise just two months ago. He particularly enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin and visiting Nashville. In his spare time, he was a part of several bowling leagues throughout the years, as well as participating in craft shows along with Merilee and displaying his woodworking abilities. Above all else, his favorite title was “grandpa”, cherishing his time he spent with his grandbabies.
He will be missed by those who love him most; his wife, Merilee; children, Chris Underwood, Sara (Jeff) Zimmerman, Matthew (Brie McRae) Underwood, Jaime Moton, Kylee (Jacob Miller) Loveridge, Kelsee (Zach Jarvi) Loveridge; grandchildren, Noah Underwood, Quinn Joersz, Lucca Moton, Isla Underwood, Isaiah Underwood, Enslee Jarvi, Lilah Moton, Aubree Jarvi; siblings, Brett (Kristin) Underwood, and Kari (Greg) Hall. He is predeceased by his parents.
A visitation for Glenn will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. through 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108. Funeral service will be on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with an additional one-hour visitation prior starting at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
