Glennis Lee Heidebrecht
September 27, 1935 – December 25, 2025
Glennis L Heidebrecht, 90, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away in Hospice care on December 25, 2025. Born on September 27, 1935, in Hutchinson, Kansas, Glen lived a full, happy life. He married his high school sweetheart, Colleen Heidebrecht in 1955, and remained married until her death in March 2025.
Glen was an avid fisherman, woodworker, football fan and coin collector. If he wasn't busy with his family, he could be found down in his workshop creating his latest project: fishing at one of Missouri's vast lakes; or cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Glen began his career with the North Kansas City school district in 1964 as an Industrial Arts teacher at NKC High School. In 1967, he moved to a similar position with Oak Park High school and transferred to Winnetonka in 1971. In the mid-1980's, Glen became the Director of Operations and Maintenance for the NKC school district and carried out his responsibilities until his retirement in 1994.
Glen was preceded in death by wife of 69 years, Colleen and son, Russell. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy and his son, Jim; two grandchildren, Kathryn (Ben) and Christopher (Valerie); and his six cherished great-grandchildren, Riley, Savannah, Piper, Lucas, Sage, and Callahan. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Ellen, as well as other extended family members and many dear friends.
His family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Ascend Hospice Care for their outstanding compassion and care during these past few years.
