Alan D Steffensen aged 62, passed peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on December 12, 2025. He was born to Mack and Mary Steffensen, twelfth child in this very fun, crazy family. He grew up in Hunter, which is now West Valley Utah. He loved his family, and would spend his summers exploring and hiking with his siblings down in southern Utah while visiting his grandmother. Alan would always be stuck in the corner of the kitchen when they had family meals, and his favorite saying would be “Is there any more food over there?” He went to Cyprus High School, and graduated in 1982. After high school, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the London Birmingham mission. Besides meeting new people and bringing them into the gospel, he was able to see castles and explore England. He met his eternal companion at a local dance place called “The Bay” in May of 1987. After a very lengthy engagement, they were married on September 4, 1987. A year later, daughter Katie was born. She was the light of his life. When she would be upset and not sleep, Alan would sing and rock her until she would. Two years later, Bryson came into the family. Alan and Bryson loved putting rockets kits together and go to the park to shoot them off.

Eighteen months later, Marinda came into the family. She had curly hair and loved wearing daddy's boots. In 2000, the family decided to buy some property in Colorado, and built a home. They lived there until 2006 and moved to Independence Mo. Alan was a journeyman painter and painted many homes and businesses in Utah, Colorado, and Missouri. While living in Missouri, his family became one bigger. Bryan came to our family at age 11. Because of his health, Alan stopped painting and started working for companies that made boxes. His last job he worked for Georgia-Pacific. He loved working there and made great friends with his co-workers. He has four grandchildren and he loved going and doing things with them, most of the time they would go to the zoo or to the park. The grands would also love to help him around the house and the yard. He was Papa. Alan was kind and gentle, loved his family and friends, and loved serving others.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Mary Steffensen, sister Christine Nobit, and two brothers Raymond Steffensen and Donald Steffensen.

Alan is survived by his wife, Penina Steffensen, children Katie Steffensen (Kristopher Carter), Bryson (Nikki) Steffensen, Marinda (Cody) Martin, Bryan Harbin. Four grandchildren, Connor, Atlas, Phoenix, and Sage.

We will be having a memorial in Missouri later in January 2026.

We would love to thank all the nurses and doctors at St. Luke's Plaza hospital for their compassion and their dedication.
