John "David" Stanfill

John David Stanfill, 51, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on January 20, 2026, at Liberty Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on March 29, 1974, David was the son of Bo and Patti (Bower) Stanfill. He grew up in Oklahoma and was a proud 1992 graduate of Oktaha High School. In his youth, David embraced an adventurous spirit, racing motorcycles and later testing his courage by riding bulls at local county rodeos.

Following his graduation from the Tulsa School of Welding, David embarked on a successful career as a traveling welder and later worked for a Shell Petroleum Company before settling in the Kansas City area. He later worked at the General Motors Fairfax Plant in Kansas City, Kansas, where he was a dedicated member of UAW Local 31. His talent extended beyond his professional life; David possessed a true artistic flair, creating many unique art pieces through welding.

David was known for his generous heart and unwavering willingness to help others, whether they were lifelong friends or strangers in need. He found enjoyment in visiting the gun range and attending gun shows. Above all, David will be fondly remembered for his collection of stories and jokes that never failed to bring smiles and laughter to those around him. He had a unique ability to make anyone feel better, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bo Stanfill, his paternal grandparents, Glen and Maxine Stanfill, and his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Patricia Bower.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Patti Riekeberg, and his cherished children, Austin and Ty McCoy Stanfill. He also leaves behind his devoted mother, Patti Stanfill, and his sister, Mallory (Nathan) Miller, his niece Madalynn and beloved dog Pepper
