Gloria Peterson Farrell Abbott, 96, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late William M. Farrell and Elmer G. Abbott. Gloria was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 20, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Gustav and Florence Carlson Peterson. She was a graduate of Union University School of Nursing and had worked as a Registered Nurse and Supervisor at Albany Hospital and later as an RN for an ophthalmology office until her retirement. Gloria was a very active member of the North Haven Center and a devote parishioner and former lector at St. Barnabas Church. Sister of John (Betty) Peterson and the late Dorothy Appel. She was the aunt of Fred (Jane) Appel, Raymond (Ursula) Appel, Scott (Rachel) Peterson and Stephen Peterson. Gloria is also survived by her adopted family from her late husband Elmer: Linda (Brian) Pfnausch, Wayne (Rebecca) Abbott, David (Cathy) Abbott, their six children and ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her dear friend Char Hemstock, who was like a daughter to her. Predeceased by her son David Farrell.
Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven on Thursday morning, March 16th at 10:00 for a Mass of Christian burial and are also invited to attended the committal service immediately following in North Haven Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Haven Inc., 89 Mill Road, North Haven, CT 06473.
