Gloria Jane Bennett Corn, age 71, was born on December 27, 1953, in Cumming, Georgia, where she lived her entire life. She passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2025, with her daughter by her side after facing long-term health challenges following a stroke in 2016, which left her hemiplegic.
Gloria took great pride in caring for her own mother for many years, showing the same devotion and tenderness she later received. She loved going to yard sales and finding small treasures that brought her joy. Most of all, she deeply loved her two grandsons and played a big part in their lives early on, creating memories they will carry forever.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and George Brice Bennett Sr.; her siblings, Diane Hansard and George Brice Bennett Jr.; her brothers-in-law, Jim Thomas, Randall Pendley, and Alvie Pirkle; her nephews, Ritchie Pirkle, Matthew Pirkle and Danny Wade; and David Corn (former spouse and father to Lisa).
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Collett (Matt), and her beloved grandsons, Seth Collett and Brayden Collett, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Charles Hansard; sisters Charlene Pirkle; Levon Thomas and Carol Pendley; sister and brother in law Margie and Loyd Pendley; sister in law Jean Bennett; and sister and brother in law Kathy and Dennis Grogan; along with a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Gloria was known for her sweet soul, her loving heart, and her witty sense of humor that could leave anyone laughing with tears. She was funny, kind, and full of warmth. In her last days, she enjoyed watching sermons from Roanoke Baptist Church from home, singing along to the songs she knew and loved. She often missed her furbaby, Max, and delighted in collecting miniature teacup sets. Gloria is also known for her talent in hairdressing, having graduated in 1972 from Forsyth County High School with a focus in cosmetology.
She will be deeply missed by many, yet she rests in the arms of her Savior for eternity, walking and dancing again.
A celebration of life will be held at Ingram Funeral Home on Friday, December 5th, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Rev. Clark Watson will officiate with Samantha Pittman performing.
