Gloria Jean Chapman, age 67, of Gadsden, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026. Born on July 9, 1958, in Gadsden, AL, she spent her life rooted in the same community that helped shape her story and the many relationships she cherished.

At a young age, Gloria gave her life to Christ and was baptized, a faith that remained a quiet but steady presence throughout her life. She was a devoted attendee of New Liberty Church in Gadsden, AL, where she found fellowship and spiritual grounding.

Gloria was a woman whose life reflected both strength and complexity. She experienced hardships that shaped her deeply, yet her capacity to love remained steadfast. Those who knew her understood that when Gloria loved you, she loved you wholeheartedly. As she often said, "I may not like you right now, but I will always love you." That sentiment captured the depth of her heart: honest, passionate, and enduring.

She found simple joy in the comforts of home. Gloria enjoyed watching cooking shows, Christmas movies, cooking for those she loved, and Lifetime films, often filling her days with the small pleasures that brought her peace. She had a natural gift for caring for others in practical ways such as helping family clean and keep up with life's responsibilities when things became overwhelming. Her willingness to step in and help, often without expecting anything in return, was a quiet testament to her generosity.

Gloria was known among neighbors and loved ones for checking in with a phone call, remembering birthdays, and making sure people were not alone when they needed support. She opened her home to those in need, offering shelter and kindness until they could find their footing. Whether it was sharing a meal, lending a hand, or simply showing up when it mattered, Gloria had a way of being present for people in moments when they needed it most.

Left to mourn her passing is her loving partner, Anthony Wilson; her siblings Stalecia (Vincent) Rolley, Janice Dixon, Stanley Dixon, Michael (Alisa) Dixon, and Glenda Ford (John); her special niece Aeril Rolley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will remember her in their own meaningful ways.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Pearline Dixon and Henry Leroy Dixon, as well as her siblings Roslyn Johnson, James Dixon, Christopher Dixon, Robert Dixon, and Barbara Franklin.

Gloria's life reminds us that love is rarely simple, but it can be enduring. Those who knew her best understood that beneath every hardship was a heart capable of deep loyalty and care. She will be remembered for the ways she showed up for others such as through shared meals, late-night phone calls, and the quiet acts of kindness that often go unseen.

Her memory will live on in the lives she touched and the love she gave in her own unique way.
