Gloria Lorraine Chavarria, age 94, passed away on August 26, 2025 at her condo in Kansas City, MO. She was born on December 2, 1930 in Richmond, VA. After she graduated high school, she went on to get her masters degree and was a teacher for the entirety of her career. On May 31, 1952 she married the love of her life Laureano "Tony" Chavarria and they were married for over 64 years. They retired in their Ocean City, NJ home and then moved to Kansas City, MO in 2012. She is preceded in death by her husband Laureano, daughter Bernadette, son Laureano Jr. and grandsons Devon and Corcoran. Gloria is survived by her daughter Carla, son Juan, grandchildren Laureano 3rd, Mikel, María, Noir, Cameron, Lauren, Deja and Jessica as well as great grandchildren Deven, Capri, Makayla, Kaminah, Tahliya, Imani and Tyhlee. She is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. She will be interred next to her late husband Laureano at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Condolences may be left on her online guestbook. She was a proud Delta Sigma Theta soror and always spoke her mind. She loved going to the casino, watching football and movies, playing scrabble, the finer things in life and a good cocktail. The family requests that you celebrate her and her memory as she lived a full life and spent the last of her days doing the things she loved most. Funeral Services are pending.
