It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria Connors, a woman best described as totally devoted to her family.

Gloria was born in the Bronx in July 1952 and passed away at Calvary Hospital on the morning of November 29 with her husband, Jim, by her side.

She was the first child born to Jackie and John Ciccarelli into a huge Italian-American family. She was the older sister to Toni and made lifelong friends growing up in the Eastchester section of the Bronx. Gloria married her prom date (also Jim Connors) when she was 20. They remained "smitten" with each other for the next half century celebrating their golden anniversary in 2024.

Gloria spent ten years as a medical secretary in the Neurology Department at Montefiore Medical Center. She was the mother to three children, Nick, Pat, and Jamie. She became famous for making her meatballs, chicken cutlets, Toll House bars and being a St. Eugene's School basketball superfan. She was an enthusiastic class mother, later selected as President of the Home School Association, coordinating innumerable events at the church and school. She served as assistant coach for the varsity cheerleading team and as her children grew, Gloria spent significant time serving as a volunteer recreational assistant at Blythedale Children's Hospital in Westchester. Gloria also served as a kindergarten aid at St Eugene's, before caring for her grandchildren as a full time "GG."

Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her 3 children and 10 grandchildren and loved any beach especially if her little ones were nearby. She was a force of love and laughter and will be sorely missed.

Gloria will be remembered and celebrated on Monday, 12/1 from 5 PM – 8 PM and Tuesday, 12/2 from 2 PM – 4 PM and 6 PM – 8 PM at McGrath & Son Funeral Home in Bronxville, NY. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville followed by a burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, NY.
