Gloria Marie Edwards
Bear Lake, Michigan
08/17/1933 - 04/06/2025
Heaven has a new boss! Gloria Marie Edwards, age 91, has joined the angels in serving heavenly banquets as of Sunday, April 6, 2025.
Gloria Marie Edwards was born on August 17, 1933 (Muskegon, MI), and was part of Mesick High School's class of 1951. Gloria Marie married her sweetheart from a blind date, Carver Edwards, on August 27, 1955.
Gloria spent her life in dedication to others in various capacities. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Bear Lake, MI, serving as Sunday School superintendent and within the Helping Hands group. If you knew Gloria, you probably received a phone call or two from her to make a hot dish for a funeral luncheon.
Gloria, along with her friend Pauline, would often put their heads together for new initiatives in Bear Lake. Together, they started the much-beloved 'Sparkle in the Park,' spent many hours packing Soldier boxes, and served walking tacos during Bear Lake Days as the 2 Dumb Dames. All of this was possible due to her many friends and family members who were graciously 'voluntold.'
Many of the Bear Lake community will remember Gloria singing and dancing to Sunday School songs, as well as the polka. Gloria had a zest for life and enjoyed chaperoning high school dances. If you needed flowers, Gloria was the one to call when she owned the Village Flower Shop in Bear Lake. She touched many within her community with her generous spirit through her involvement in Triginta Club, Bear Lake Promoters, and the Bear Lake Museum.
Meeting her in heaven are her parents, Reino and Millie (Bahr) Repo; husband, George Carver; daughter, Anne; along with family members, Jim and Pat Repo, Ken and Diane Edwards, Fred Gomolak, Jodi Monroe Moffit, and Carol Harrigan. She is remembered here on earth by her children, Mary (Carl) Barnum of Frankfort, MI, Curtis Edwards of Oakes, ND, and Amy (Mike) Bennett of Mason, OH. Close to Gloria's heart was her family, especially her grandchildren, Gloria, Amber, CJ, Dustin, Emily, Alicia, Erica; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Barb Gomolak of Cadillac and Sandy (Ray) Monroe of Cadillac.
Funeral Services for Gloria will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Bear Lake Community Church with Pastor Jim Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Oak Grove Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manistee Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorials in Gloria's name may be directed to Bear Lake Promoters or Joy 2 Ride Benzie.
