She was courageously battling cancer for a third time and showed everyone how strong she truly was. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother. She was a great friend to all those who knew her and would give you her shirt off her back if you needed it. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved being involved in everything they did. In her spare time, she loved spending her days outside gardening and sparking up conversations with all those who passed by. If she couldn't be outside then she would pass time by doing one of her many jigsaw puzzles and would end up losing track of time. Before this last cancer diagnosis, the thing that she loved doing the most was shopping at all the thrift stores for hours on end. The family would like to thank her Oncologist Dr. Sarhill and his entire staff at Texas Oncology in Harlingen for providing the best care they could.
She is now reunited and basking in the glory of Heaven with the love of her life. She will be deeply missed by her family, especially her grandchildren, and all of those whose life she touched.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Margarito Huerta; parents, Paulino Sr. and Guadalupe Huerta; sister, Delia Garza; brothers, Jose "Pepe" Huerta, Paulino "Polin" Huerta, and Alejandro "Cano" Huerta.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Venesa (Jesus) Montemayor, San Juanita "Janie" (Eugenio) Ortiz; grandchildren: Jocelyn, Josiah, Amanda, Jesus Montemayor, Jovannah, Justin, Jacob Ortiz; brothers, Ruben Sr.(+Noemi) Huerta, Alfredo (Josefina) Huerta, and Horacio Huerta.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Thomae-Garza Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1001 US-77 BUS, San Benito, TX with interment to follow to Mont Meta Memorial Park.
