Gloria Frame James

Gloria Frame James, 87, of Gassaway, West Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 12, 2026, in Gassaway, WV.

Gloria was born on April 16, 1938, in Frametown, West Virginia to the late Thurman Frame and Maria A. Frame. Throughout her life, she lived in several places including Alabama, Ohio, North Carolina, and West Virginia, but no matter where she called home, she carried with her a strong faith, a generous heart, and a deep love for her family.

Gloria was a devoted Christian and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. She was a member of Gassaway Baptist Church, and her faith was the foundation of her life and guided her in all she did. She was actively involved in her church and known for her volunteer work, always willing to serve others with kindness, humility, and love. She was the 2008 Braxton County Belle, and she was an active supporter of the Braxton County Senior Center where she enjoyed playing cards with her friends and joining group activities and outings where she set an example of living life to the fullest.

One of Gloria's greatest joys was quilting. Through her beautiful handmade quilts, she shared warmth, comfort, and love with family and friends. Each stitch reflected her patience, creativity, and the care she had for those around her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Roy E. James; her siblings, Thurmond Frame Jr., Henry Frame, Charles Frame, Dora Dean, William (Billy) Frame, Harry Frame, and Elsie Gaskins.

She is survived by a special friend, Raban Young, and by her loving children: David R. James (Judy) of Concord, NC, Cynthia Westfall (Jerry) of Gassaway, WV, and Richard E. James (Sara) of Concord, NC.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Andrew Christy, Misty Drake (Brandon), Alison Westfall, April Fisher (Travis), Joshua James, Robin Lane (Jonathan), Cody James (Hannah), Cameron James (Shyla), and Caleb James.

She is also survived by several great-grandchildren who were a great source of joy in her later years: Kaylee Callison, Connor Fisher, Colton Drake, Bennet Fisher, Jackson Lane, Olivor Fisher, Ryan Lane, Adam Lane, Mylah James, Ivy Suiter, and William Fisher.

Gloria will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, strong work ethic, and the love she poured into her family and community. Her life was a living testimony of faith, service and grace.

Her visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, February 16, 2026, at Gassaway Baptist Church, 56 Beall Drive, Gassaway, WV.

Gloria's funeral will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, February 17th at the church with Pastor Mark Stump officiating.

Burial will follow in the James Family Cemetery, Leatherwood, WV

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the James Family Cemetery Fund in care of Cynthia Westfall at 26 Westfall Drive, Gassaway WV, 26624.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with loved ones, and rejoicing in the presence of her Savior.
