Gloria Jamison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lee-Sykes Funeral Home - Columbus on Dec. 27, 2024.
Gloria J. Jamison was born January 29, 1943 to William and Pinkie
Jamison in Prairie, Mississippi.
Gloria confessed Jesus Christ as Lord May, 1969 at the age of 26 at
Regent Street Church of God in Christ, Roxbury, Massachusetts. Gloria
started to win souls to God immediately. Her Pastor, the late Bishop L.
C. Young, recognized the anointing on her and he would often call her to
come forward in the services to minister to bring soul to the Lord. The
"gift of the word of knowledge" worked through her from her early
beginning in the Lord. She knew by the Spirit when individuals were
ready to be saved, and called them out and they were saved. As Gloria
matured in the Lord she entered the teaching ministry at Regent Street
Church of God in Christ. Later in the summer of 1978 she was led of the
Spirit to return to Mississippi, and she became a pioneer as a female
minister here ministering on the radio and in various churches.
Finally in September, 1988, Maranatha Faith Center was birthed in Columbus, Mississippi. There Gloria
with her brother, the late Steve M. Jamison, taught the word of God and conducted the prayer ministry.
As a result of her prayer ministry, many souls were saved and filled with the Holy Spirit throughout the
Golden Triangle area. That ministry blossomed into the ISM School of Ministry where many young and
old, women and men were prepared for the ministry. Her curriculum was comparable to that taught at
Oral Roberts University. She offered licenses to both men and women without discrimination.
She leaves to mourn the following children: Kurus J. Jamison, Mechalie C. Jamison (Kuleesha), Dwana V.
Spann; and the following grandchildren: Pinkie Spann, Jass Washington Jamison, Kaitlyn Jamison,
Mechiya Jamison, Mechalie Jamison, Jr., and Matthew Brown, Jr. She leaves to mourn the following
Siblings: William Jamison, Jr, (Diane) Norman C. Jamison, Sr., Harriette Jamison, and Matthias Jamison
(Yvette). Finally she leaves to mourn a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
father and mother William Jamison and Pinkie Jamison and by two siblings, Bettye Jamison Brown, and
Steven M. Jamison.
