Gloria Edmondson Kinnard, age 78, left this world too soon on July 20, 2025. Born on November 9, 1946, in Lewisburg, Tennessee, Gloria was the cherished daughter of the late Brandon Edmondson and Alice Erline Holly.
A lifelong advocate for education, Gloria earned her bachelor’s degree in education and devoted her career to shaping the hearts and minds of young students. She began her teaching journey at Harpeth Academy, which later became Battle Ground Academy (BGA) in Franklin, where she would go on to teach for over 30 years. Gloria was known for her unwavering dedication and her genuine love for her students. She retired in 2013 and was inducted into the BGA Hall of Fame, a testament to the profound impact she made in the classroom and beyond.
Gloria will be fondly remembered for her kind and caring spirit, her sharp wit, and her deeply nurturing heart. Her sense of humor brought joy to those around her, and her love for her grandchildren was boundless.
She is survived by her children, Brandon "Bebe" Graham Alexander and Edmondson “Eddie” (Elizabeth “Liz”) Kinnard; her loving siblings, Lee (Donna) Edmondson and Larry (Debbie) Edmondson; her beloved grandchildren, Gloie Alexander, Trace (Lindsay) Alexander, Porter Kinnard, and Abigail Kinnard; and her lifelong friends, Pam Reed, Nancy Quillman, Jody Jones, and Angela Klausner
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Claiborne Holmes Kinnard V, and their son, Claiborne Holmes Kinnard VI.
A devoted member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Gloria’s life will be honored and celebrated in the place she held dear. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Paul's Episcopal Church Memorial Garden, surrounded by the love and faith that guided her throughout her life.
