Gloria Kurschner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rausch & Steel Funeral Home on Jun. 26, 2023.
Gloria Marie Borghild Wold Kurschner, age 92, of Barron, died on June 25, 2023 at her home. Gloria resided at Dove Healthcare in Barron since 2012.
She was born in Barron on June 7, 1931, to Alfred Raymond and Nora C. (Bjugstad) Wold. Gloria grew up surrounded by her family and many cousins just north of Barron. She graduated from Barron High School in 1949.
Gloria married Byron C. Kurschner on October 20, 1951 at the First Lutheran Church in Barron.
After spending some time in California, where Byron served in the military, they returned to Barron and found the ideal place to raise their 3 children on a farm southwest of Barron. In addition to doing her vital part around the farm, she worked at the apron factory in Barron. Gloria worked hard at continuously caring for everyone around her. She was first a member of the First Lutheran Church in Barron, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Barron after marriage and until her passing. Gloria had an unshakable belief in God and was always willing to share her faith with others. She was a prayer warrior for her family and friends. The biggest part of her heart was saved for her family.
Gloria inherited a deep love of music from her family that she passed on to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a beautiful singing voice! Music played a major part in her life over the decades. As a young girl, she was part of a vocal quartet who made a recording in Minneapolis for the Cedric Adams show heard on Sunday nights. She sang in many choirs and loved to sing at home. We always knew she was happy and content when she was humming and whistling. Even the birds would sing along with her! She had a special ear for music and loved to just listen. Gloria loved to cook and bake. Food was definitely her love language. She shared that love with baked goods and meals prepared for family and friends.
With a large extended family, and many friends, her loss is truly and deeply felt.
Gloria is survived by her 3 children; Michael Kurschner of Winona, MN, Thomas (Jane) Kurschner of Altoona and Kristen Kurschner of Cameron; 5 grandchildren, David (Natalie) Kurschner of Charlotte, NC, Ellen (Mike) Frits of Lake Elmo, MN, Dana (Shannon) Geyer of Osceola, Neal (Jessica) Kurschner of Broomfield, CO and Julie (Spencer) Nelson of Kalaheo, HI; 15 great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joel Kurschner, Katelynn, Ethan and Abigail Frits, Adeline, Samuel, Alexander, Matthew and Aaron Geyer, Caleb and Isabel Kurschner, and Ava, Lucas and Nora Nelson; great-great-grandchildren, Calvin, Arianna and Bonnie Kurschner and Bradley Kurschner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Byron, her husband of 47 years; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Kurschner; grandson, Daniel Kurschner; brothers, Elliot and Ronald Wold; sisters, Edna Ellison and Lois Voelker.
A funeral service for Gloria Kurschner will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Barron with Pastor Floyd Lunde officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the First Baptist Church of Barron.
