FORT WORTH - Gloria Lagunas, 78, passed away from this life Saturday, March 11, 2023, at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at St. Patrick Cathedral. Rosary: 6 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023, in Greenwood Chapel, 3100 White Settlement Road, Ft. Worth, Texas.
Gloria was born May 16, 1944 in Guadalupe County, Texas, to Jose and Maria Rodriguez. She grew up in New Braunfels before meeting the love of her life Jose H. Lagunas. They married on June 19, 1960 in New Braunfels, Texas. They had three children Rachel, Rojelio and Romelia and in 1976 they moved to Fort Worth, Texas where they continued to raise their family.
Gloria was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Family came first to Gloria, She was a women of strong faith and she instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. Gloria was a very humble person, and was always quick to offer help or support to anyone in need.
Gloria earned her nursing degree in 1970. She always enjoyed helping others. Along the road she changed careers and worked for Alcon Laboratories where she retired in 1996. She returned to her nursing career where her passion really laid. She was selflessness and always put others before herself.
One of Gloria passion was cooking. But, her specialty was tamales. She was our "Tamale Queen". When asking for her recipe she would always say, a little bit of this and a little of that. The best part was enjoying the meal and her conversation with her.
Our mother was a true role model who we will always look up to. Gloria, or too many of us was Aunt Lollie or just Lollie. She was a great inspiration to us. She has taught us so much throughout the years in which we will carry on. You will live forever in our hearts.
Hers was a life well lived... filled with grace and love. It is that love that will carry us forward until we are together again.
Gloria was preceded in death by her, husband Jose H. Lagunas; and son, Rojelio R. (Roger) Lagunas.
