Gloria Jean Maitland, age 74, a lifelong resident of Brunswick, County, VA, passed away at her home on Saturday, October 18, 2025, with her husband by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alec and Nannie Mae Blanton; her siblings, Willie “Son” Blanton, William Blanton, Josie Blanton, Victoria Wood, and Irene Mayberry; and two nephews, Floyd Fajna, Jr. and Adam Cooper.
Gloria will be remembered by her family as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She absolutely adored her grandchildren and her role as grandmother held a very special place in her life.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, William “Sonny” Maitland; two daughters, Melisa “Lisa” Cosner (Keith) and Christy Oludaisi (Solomon); grandchildren, Chelsie Warmouth (Patrick), Justin Campbell (Erica), DeAndra Sosa (Matthew), Lauryn Watkins, Tiana Jones; great grandchildren, Jerry, R.J., Noah, Leela, Axel, and Zoey; a sister, Stella Merkle (Scott), as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Gloria’s cousin and devoted caregiver, Sherry Blanton, for taking such good care of her.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Williams Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, VA. A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Lawrenceville.
