Gloria Melendez Valenzuela, age 84, passed away peacefully in Glen Rose, TX on November 4, 2025. She was born in Van Horn, TX on October 6, 1941, to Jorge and Jane Valenzuela.
Gloria was a long-time resident of Van Horn, TX. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her passion was her family, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her hobbies included crafts, cooking and baking. Gloria was known for baking and decorating cakes for birthdays, quinceañeras, graduations, weddings, and all special celebrations. Her devotion was her husband and enjoyed traveling with him to visit their grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother Jane Valenzuela and her father Jorge L. Valenzuela and by her loving husband of 57 years Jesus U. Melendez.
Gloria is survived by her daughter Patricia and husband Timothy Jones of Burleson, TX; grandsons Ethan, Matthew, and Thomas Jones; son Jesus Jose and wife Araceli Melendez of El Paso, TX; grandchildren Rebeca, Santiago, and Sebastian Melendez.
An evening viewing will be held on Friday, November 14, at Heritage Funeral Home, Van Horn, TX from 4pm to 9pm. There will be a morning viewing from 10am to 11am on Saturday, November 15, at HWY 54 Church of Christ with the funeral service from 11am to 12pm. The burial will follow at the Van Horn Cemetery.
The Pallbearers serving are Ethan Jones, Matthew Jones, Thomas Jones, Santiago Melendez, Sebastian Melendez, Ray Melendez, Elmer Melendez, Mark Espinoza, David Espinoza, Jon Valenzuela, Victor Urias, Arnulfo Urias, Sergio Hinojos, Joel Sanchez.
